Product Owner - Data & Analytics

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Product Owner to join our Data & Analytics team on a contract basis. In this role, you will be responsible for defining and prioritizing the product backlog for data-related initiatives and ensuring alignment with business objectives. You will collaborate closely with engineering, data science, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality data products.

Key Deliverables

• Define and manage the product backlog, prioritizing user stories based on business value and technical feasibility.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, define acceptance criteria, and ensure alignment on product vision.
• Work closely with the development team to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of data products.
• Create and maintain product documentation, including user guides, release notes, and training materials.
• Monitor and analyze product performance, identifying areas for improvement and optimization.
• Present project status updates, risks, and mitigation plans to leadership on a regular cadence.

Essential Requirements

• 2+ years of experience as a Product Owner, preferably in a data-related field.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and Scrum team product management.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS or Snowflake.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and currently located within commuting distance of New York, NY.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with data engineering principles and practices.
• Familiarity with data governance frameworks and processes.
• Knowledge of data strategy and data architecture best practices.

Skills

Must-Have Skills

• Technical: SQL (proficient in writing complex queries), Data Modeling (conceptual, logical, physical), Data Warehousing (Snowflake preferred), ETL Processes (data integration, transformation), Data Visualization (Tableau, PowerBI).
• Domain Knowledge: Data Strategy, Data Architecture, Data Governance, Understanding of data lifecycle management.
• Behavioral & Interpersonal: Excellent communication and coordination skills, ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, strong stakeholder management skills.
• Process & SOP: Experience creating user stories and epics in Jira, managing product backlogs, and defining acceptance criteria.
• Analytical & Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.

Good-to-Have Skills

• Advanced Technical: Experience with cloud-native data pipelines, proficiency in Python or other scripting languages for data manipulation.
• Additional Certifications: Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent certification.
• Cross-Functional Exposure: Experience working with data science teams on machine learning projects.
• Leadership Traits: Ability to influence and motivate team members, strong problem-solving skills, proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
• Continuous Improvement: Familiarity with Lean principles and practices for process optimization.

Additional Information

• This is a contract position based in New York, NY, with a hybrid work model, requiring on-site presence a few days per week .
• The initial contract duration will be [Specify duration; e.g., 6 months], with the possibility of extension.
• Standard onboarding procedures will be followed, including training on company-specific data platforms and tools.
